* If you are a high school senior who goes to school in the Summerfield area or a past winner of the Gene Driscoll Memorial Scholarship, please click here for details on how to apply for this year's scholarship award. Remember, all past winners still in college must re-apply each year to be considered. All applications must be submitted to the church office by Friday, April 30th.

* Important Notes and Upcoming Events:
- We will have a Covered Dish Lunch immediately following the 11am worship service on Sunday, March 14. Don't forget to bring a dish to share!
- Girls Night Out (Dinner & Movie, Steel Magnolias) - Saturday, March 20, 5:30 pm - We will enjoy a meal of Grilled Chicken and all the trimmings. Then we'll spend some time in Truvy's Hair Spot, Nail Spot and Makeup Spot. We will pamper each other and even make a sugar scrub, lip gloss and bath salts to take home for ourselves or to use as gifts. Then we will have Southern Pie for dessert and watch the movie, Steel Magnolias. Following the movie, we will have a post-show of spiritual themes, discussion and conversation. If you would like to attend, please call or e-mail the church office by Tuesday, March 16th so that we can be sure to have enough supplies and food. Cost is $10 per person and childcare will be provided as long as we know in advance.
- Church Book Club - Thursday, March 25, 7:00 pm - All are welcome to join us at the home of Sally Lambrecht as we discuss "The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo" by Stieg Larsson. For more information, please call or e-mail the church office.
- Maundy Thursday Service - April 1, 7:00 pm -The SUMC Chancel Choir will present a tenebrae service called "Light in the Darkness" by Patrick Liebergen and John Purifoy. The tenebrae service follows the medieval tradition of Christian worship, in which the final hours of the Lord's life are experienced through word, music and symbolism. During the "tenebrae" which means "darkness" or "shadows", candles are extinguished one by one, and lights are turned off gradually so that the participants will feel the impending void and grief of Christ's death on the cross. The service ends in total darkness symbolizing the tomb.
- Easter Egg Hunt - Saturday, April 3, 10:00 am - The entire community is invited to bring your children for a fun time hunting Easter Eggs as well as well as a visit from a very special guest.
- Easter Sunrise Service & Breakfast - Sunday, April 4, 6:30 am - The Sunrise Service is a service that will celebrate the resurrection of our Lord through scripture and communion. We'll have a living Cross, so please bring your flowers to place on the cross in front of the church. Directly following the service, you're invited to join us for breakfast.
- Easter Sunday Resurrection Celebration Service - Sunday, April 4, 11:00 am - Come hear the good news as we celebrate this glorious day through a confirmation service, scripture readings and special music.
- Church Book Club - Thursday, April 22, 7:00 pm - All are welcome to join us at the home of Louise Styers as we discuss "Sarah's Key" by Tatiana de Rosnay. For more information, please call or e-mail the church office.
